Karl grew up singing, dancing and acting as well as playing piano, and is based in Te Awamutu. He has performed in various musical capacities at conferences and other events.  On occasion he is a Creative Arts Director at large church in Tauranga.

He has earned a Certificate of Performing Arts majoring in vocals and also won the Excel School of Performing Arts Songwriters Award. He recorded a gospel album in 2018 and continued to focus on new music as well as live performances.

With ABBA Heaven! he is well employed covering the complex and multiple 4 part harmonies required for ABBA songs, as well as some lead vocals. He performs as either Benny or Bjorn.

Karl Donovan is ABBA Heaven’s exciting new member of the band, as of 2024.
